|
The Goncourt literary prize is all about the history of literature in France and tells us a tale or two on what it means to be a writer…
Everything starts in 1882. Edmond de Goncourt creates a literary society composed of 10 members in order to bestow a prize to the author of "the best work of imagination".
The first Goncourt prize is given in 1903 and reveals to the public young authors or celebrates successful novelists. It explores all genres, from personal to people stories and even shows a tolerance for humour and science-fiction...
The prize has its residence at Drouant´s since 1914 and its members meet on a monthly basis giving the price in November each year.
