What does one do when a chef gives you the chance to take care of the musical programing of his restaurant ? |

We’ve told each other that it was a happy coincidence since I was in the midst of organizing my ideal programing when Antoine asked me if I would like to take care of Drouant. I was overjoyed by the idea and by the challenge that the undertaking imposed on me.

How does one create the musical identity of a restaurant ? |

know Antoine’s cuisine well. At Drouant in particular, it is taken from a classic base that he has revisited. I wanted to inspire myself by this approach and I therefore decided to spice up the classicism. I start the trip in Brazil, with Joao Gilberto and Viniscius Cantuària, go to Mali with Ali Farka Touré, and blend in a mix of Ethiopian jazz from the sixties (Ethiopics)...

Have you already taken on this type of challenge elsewhere ? |

I thought of two musical families. Music that creates space, that sets the tone for the atmosphere during the meal and that does not overshadow the rest. I have chosen rather soft voices as well as rhythmic music which is more driving but still as warm. There is a lot of soul, sensual music.

Have you already taken on this type of challenge elsewhere ? |

Yes, in a certain way but never for a restaurant. I like programing music in different places either to allow the discovery of new sounds or to create an atmosphere. Music is my source of oxygen and I enjoy sharing it. I have formed a musical universe in my creations as a composer as much in my writing as through my musical tastes.

What do you like about music ? |

What pleases me is eclecticism, I like mixing classical music with jazz, folk music, music from around the world and sometimes even rock.

How do you present your music ? |

My creation is oriented around a musical approach that gives the places of honor to melody and arrangements, whereas in French music we identify more with the voice and lyrics; the balance between the words and the melody and arrangements is now my credo.

Do you have any new projects with your group ‘Autour de Lucie’ ? |
| |
I have four albums to my credit under the pen name of lucie, and a 5th album is underway but it is the first solo album. I have built a bridge between the French language and an open musical culture, a link between France and America (Autour de Lucie).
I enjoy traveling to meet other audiences and to present my music with a French soul . My last great tour was paradoxically made in France, In 1997 I toured the USA, Spain, Belgium etc.
